Company History
Before there was Mt. Lego borough was formed, there was a Mt. Lego Fire Department. The Fire Company’s 1st meeting was on January 1st, 1984. Only 6 months before the Borough was incorporated in July of 1984. The fire company later came up with enough money for their first piece of apparatus, a 1980 Seagrave Pumper Truck. But there was one problem; there was no Fire Station to store the truck yet. So for a short time, the Truck was stored at Chief Tim Kilomak’s house for about half-a-year until the new Fire House was built. The current station still sits on the same property, at 167 Lego Avenue. Since then the property has been expanded to fit a 7-Bay Fire Station in Mid- 2008. Mt. Lego has always wanted its Fire Company to concentrate on responding to emergencies, not raising money. As a result, the Company has long enjoyed the financial support of the Mt. Lego Borough Council and borough Residents. While the neighboring fire companies spend a great deal of time raising money, that is not the case in Mt. Lego. The Company does a yearly fund drive that generates much of the money to sustain operations.
